Terms and conditions for members at The Arte

Selection

The Arte is an open platform and all artists are welcome to register and create their gallery.

To meet our visitors' expectations for quality, variety and uniqueness, we reserve the right to handpick and curate the content on the platform, including on the home page and in the category listings. Featured artists are selected as new works are uploaded and from existing artists. We review featured artists regularly.

As Thearte is a large, open and welcoming platform, this is the most effective and appreciated way to highlight high-quality artistry. Read more about our selection criteria .

Sale

To sell your art on The Arte, you need a Plus or Advanced account (paid service) , otherwise you are not allowed to sell artwork, market your services, promote another website or social media with us.

We do not require exclusivity. The Arte is an open platform and we see it as our mission to give artists a flexible, fair and easy-to-use place to showcase their original art.

At The Arte, art buyers trust that the structure and process are fair and equitable and represent value and unique quality. If you sell your works elsewhere, your prices therefore need to be the same everywhere. We reserve the right to take action in the event of unauthorized pricing.

As an artist, you set the terms for payment and delivery.

Original art

We strongly believe in original art and its unique value. Only unique original artworks may be sold on The Arte - no reproductions, prints, posters, giclée prints, etc.

Art graphics (e.g. lithographs, screen prints, etchings) may be sold in numbered and signed editions. The edition may be a maximum of 150 and must be stated in the description of the work. Sculptures may be sold in an edition of a maximum of 20.

Prints

As an artist, you may, if you wish, display prints in your gallery, but not price them. We suggest that you create a separate album dedicated to your prints. Art buyers can then contact you if interested.

Digital art

Digital art may be published if it is created digitally (e.g. on a tablet) or is a substantially processed photograph. Digital art may only be sold if the work is sold in a single copy, which must be stated in the description of the artwork. It must also be stated how the work is delivered (digitally or in the form of a print).

It is not allowed to publish AI-generated images.

Photography

Photography may not be published and sold on The Arte .

Clothing and jewelry

It is not permitted to publish or sell clothing items on The Arte (e.g. sweaters, hats, mittens and socks). This also applies to clothing that is hand-painted with artistic motifs or patterns. Jewelry (e.g. necklaces, bracelets, earrings) cannot be sold on us either.

Your details

The Arte may send you emails regarding the site and your account. We never use your personal information for purposes other than to provide our services and do not sell any information to 3rd parties. See also our privacy policy for more detailed information about our personal data management.

The Arte reserves the right to remove images of poor quality (e.g. images taken at an angle, blurry or dark). The Arte may also edit out obviously inappropriate information in presentations.

Copyright

As an artist, you own the copyright to your works. Read more about copyright .

We use images of your art to showcase your art on the platform and to promote your art and the platform in our external channels. If you wish us not to use your art in our marketing, you can contact us about this.

You are also responsible for ensuring that all material you publish on The Arte does not constitute copyright infringement.

Only you as an artist or someone with authorization may post works and create a presentation on The Arte.

Account closure

You can terminate your account at any time by contacting us. When you terminate your account, we will completely delete your account and will no longer use your information or photos. A deleted account cannot be restored.

Thearte may suspend accounts without notice in the event of illegal, unauthorized or clearly inappropriate use of the service.
